jazz music london oh

11 a.m.-1 p.m. — The John Vermeulen Octet is a smaller jazz/dance orchestra that has played various functions from weddings to the Galion Oktoberfest. John Vermeulen began playing swing music while attending Capital University in the late 70’s. Currently John plays in Vaughn Wiester’s Famous Jazz Orchestra and Johnny Mack’s Superband. He has also had the opportunity to play with groups as diverse as the Columbus Symphony, The Columbus Jazz Orchestra and for the Palace Broadway Series.

Local connections include London saxophonist Bob LeBeau, a regular with the band, and London pianist Clint Morse, who will sit in for the set. The group played at the first Rib & Jazz Fest and for London’s bicentennial celebration over July Fourth weekend.

1:30-3:30 p.m. — The Linda Dachtyl Trio features multi-instrumentalist Larry Smith of Columbus, organ recording artist and Keny on College jazz piano and percussion instructor Linda Dachtyl, and Percussive Arts Society Ohio chapter president and Kenyon College percussion instructor Cary Dachtyl.

4-6 p.m. — Six Foot Blonde is a high energy dance band covering new and classic artists like Pink, Katy Perry, Ke$ha, Lady Gaga, No Doubt, The Black Eyed Peas, Journey, Prince, Cheap Trick, Bon Jovi and The Romantics.

6:30-8:30 p.m. — Soul Satyr is an eight-piece blues band whose CD, “No Slackin’,” represented the Columbus Blues Alliance at the Memphis Blues Challenge and finished in the top 12 for self-produced recordings.

9-11 p.m. — Even though Teeny Tucker is based out of Central Ohio it's rare to catch Teeny in concert in her home state.  Teeny tours internationally playing at Blues Festivals across the US and to Sweden, France, Switzerland, Belgium and Italy, sharing the stage with BB King, KoKo Taylor, Etta James, Buddy Guy, Keb Mo and more.  She was nominated Female Blues Artist of the Year in 2008 by BluesBlast and named Monterey Bay Blues Artist of the Year in 2010.  A night with Teeny is unforgettable, don't miss this opportunity to see this internationally recognized blues legend close to home.
